News of the Week for The Los Gatos Social Club May 2, 2008

Came for cocktails last week then didn’t join us for dinner, did you!

Well, eat your heart out because none other than long time Social Clubber Michael Kane picked up the entire tab at Gardino’s. In addition to garnering Michael, a Shakespearian thespian of no small renown, the esteemed title of Michael, Prince of Cats, his act of generosity finally put to rest one of our club’s longest running disputes. Seems that one evening many eons ago Michael picked up the tab at The Cats. There may have been three of us there, but Michael’s story (and up ‘til now he was stickin’ to it) is that “a tab is a tab”. Fancy wordplay that kinda reminds one of “depends on what your definition of is is” that came from an equivocating Arkansas democrat.

It was an excellent dinner too…at Gardino’s; Pete, Tommy & Felix cooked up some incredible veal shanks – quite a treat.

Anyhow, our deepest thanks and appreciation to Michael for his act of great kindness. That leaves only one old time Social Clubber still clinging to the payment of a tab for two or three people at The Cats as constituting a bona fide “act of great generosity”. Yes, you guessed it…that would be MICHAEL KILKENNY of two minute egg timer fame. Well, wonders never cease - so perhaps one of these days…

PS: Our Joke of the Week

Bill worked in a pickle factory.
He had been employed there for a number of years when he came home one day to confess to his wife that he had a terrible compulsion.
He had an urge to stick his penis into the pickle slicer.
His wife suggested that he should immediately see a sex therapist to talk about it, but Bill said he would be too embarrassed. He vowed to overcome the compulsion on his own.
One day a few weeks later, Bill came home and his wife could see at once that something was seriously wrong.
'What's wrong, Bill?' she asked.
'Do you remember that I told you how I had this tremendous urge to put my penis into the pickle slicer?'
'Oh, Bill, you didn't' she exclaimed.
'Yes, I did.' he replied
My God, Bill, what happened?'
I got fired.'
'No, Bill. I mean, what happened with the pickle slicer?'
'Oh...she got fired too.
