News of the Week for The Los Gatos Social Club March 2, 2008

What a fabulous time members and friends of the Los Gatos Social Club had at the beautiful historic home of club members Tim and Pam Murphy last Wednesday. A big thank you to our gracious hosts for the heavenly appetizers and fine selection of wine and spirits we all enjoyed so very much. At the next Board of Directors meeting we will confer titles upon Tim and Pam for their graciousness and generosity. Cheers!

Our fun, feast, and conversation continued into the night at Gardino's. Club members Joanne and Joe Rodgers demonstrated incredible generosity by picking up the check for our fantastic dinner. To recognize this altruistic act, the Board of Directors will honor Joanne and Joe with well deserved titles . Thank you and well done Joanne and Joe (and mom too)!

And it keeps getting better...

This week the generosity of our members continues as our Maharani of Massol, Mary MacDonald (assisted by Kathy Linton, our Ambassador to The Willows) hosts cocktails at her lovely home. This promises to be a wonderful gathering you will not want to miss. Cocktails will be served beginning at 6:30 followed by dinner at Gardino's an hour or so later. And please do remember to bring a bottle of wine!

No confirmed reports yet that any of our members were able to join Dennise and Peter in Puerto Vallarta for the official Mexican gathering of the Social Club last Wednesday evening. However, apparently last week's Social Club south of the border soiree was a real kick. Rumor has it that members brought Tequila instead of wine. And it looks like someone brought a bottle of Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia. The attached photo of Peter was taken Thursday morning on the beach in front of their condo. Let's hope and pray he doesn't drink this much Tequila when they return home. We wouldn't want to see this on Broadway!

The Los Gatos Social Club Newsletter 2008 Volume VIII

Joke of the week:

A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand.

He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.

The head monk, says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son."

He goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years. Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot.

So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing.

"We missed the R! We missed the R! We missed the R! Dear God in heaven, we missed the R!"

The young monk asks the abbot, "What's wrong, father?" With A choking voice, the abbot replied,

"The word was...CelebRate!!!"

Happy day and warm regards,

Jonathan
